Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Preschool is all about exploration! In my classroom we explore our environment through play, toys, art, music and movement and literature but we lack technology!

My class is located in the south side of Chicago in a beautifully diverse neighborhood.

We are a Preschool For All program through the Chicago Public School System. I have a class of 40 students ranging in ages from 3-5. All of my kids have varying educational and emotional needs. As a teacher, I meet those needs by providing a play-based program where student are taught but also respected and loved! My goal as an early childhood teacher is to embed a passion for learning for every one of my kiddos. My students all come from a variety of backgrounds, but we all have one thing in common... that we believe learning is fun!

My Project

Last school year, all 3 of our 10 year old computers crashed. We attempted to share one iPad, but for 40 children that was extremely difficult! As we approach a new year, I hope to start it with technology that my students can easily access. I hope to incorporate technology into all aspects of our school day. Also when you teach 40 students, a teacher needs adequate storage! We need book shelves to store the students educational portfolios.These shelves will help me keep all of the students beautiful work accessible and organized!

This is the environment I am teaching in on a day to day basis. My students deserve access to the tools and resources that so many of us take for granted. By providing them with access to technology they are given the materials and environment that will help them achieve in the future. Please help me share a love of learning with my class!
