Without a doubt, computers in the classroom are critical in today's world. As a teacher, I use technology lessons daily & I know having an Windows 8 laptop would help me. I also know I would need to learn more about this system. For me, the next step lies with having to become a student again.
I currently teach at a Pre K-5th grade school.
Our town is known to be a tight knit community that works together. Parental support is a priority in our area. Our local school has around five hundred and fifty students. I currently teach all subjects in 1st grade. I love working with 1st grade students. My students are eager to learn and work in centers every day. They love using technology in our classroom. On the whole, our schools doesn't have many Windows 8 computers. I personally want to move forward to learn more about the Windows 8 system. I also could use a Windows 8 laptop and a mouse. I would love to have both to use with my eager students later on down the line. I know to accomplish this though, I need to back step a bit and be the student once again. I am more than willing to do what it takes. Without a doubt, having a new Windows 8 laptop & mouse would eventually benefit me as a teacher and my students later on.
My Project
On the whole, my school doesn't have many Windows 8 computers & I am very interested in that system. This week I met with my tech coach to see if I gained one if she could help me. We then set up a plan of action for my own Professional Development path. Our joint plan includes meeting 1 to 1 or with a group to help me learn about the Windows 8 system. This in turn, would help my students later. In addition to that, my tech leaders gathered professional development articles to guide me with effective academic uses of a windows 8. I know Windows 8 is different & I know I have a lot to learn. Through the use of the requested laptop, I will be on my own learning path. Our plan includes working toward 2 goals. First, it includes Windows 8 hands-on lessons, and the 2nd lies with project based lessons for my students later. Before I get to goal 2, I need to become a student & learn about Windows 8.
