Teacher Professional Development: I need a laptop and mouse for professional development courses I will take. Later, my students will use it for project based learning activities. <profdevpilot>
Obviously, we live in a technology driven world filled with computers, tablets and more. As a teacher, I use technology lessons daily and I know having a Windows 8 laptop would help me. in Pre K we learn letters. "A is for Apple, B is for Ball, please let C be a computer for me!"
Our Pre K-5th grade school is one of the feeder schools in town.
We have over 500 wonderful students here! I am a Pre K teacher who has taught other grade levels in the past. Though it is not easy, our school is one that works hard to bring technology to our students.
Our students truly love and embrace the technology resources we have. My students are eager to learn and work in centers every day. They love using technology in our classroom. On the whole, our school doesn't have many Windows 8 computers. I personally want to move forward to learn more about the Windows 8 system. I also could use a Windows 8 laptop and a mouse. I would love to have both to use with my eager students later on down the line. I know to accomplish this though, I need to back step a bit and be the student once again. I am more than willing to do what it takes. Without a doubt, having a new Windows 8 laptop and mouse would eventually benefit me as a teacher and my students later on.
My Project
Our school is lacking in terms of Windows 8 computers and I am very interested in gaining some. Yesterday, I met with our tech leader to see if I gained one if she could help me with PD. She said yes. My PD course would include meeting with her individually or with small groups. The plan includes meeting for 3 sessions to help me understand how Windows 8 works in conjunction with learning about project based lessons. With the use of the requested Windows 8 laptop, my tech mentors will guide me on a path to help not only me, but my students later on. Our plan has me with working with 2 steps. Goal 1 includes learning the hardware and navigation of Windows 8. After learning the physical components of this tool, goal 2 would offer productive project-based learning activities for my students using this Windows 8 machine after I've completed my course.
I know that I would need to learn more about this system.
For me, the next step lies with having become a student again. The cycle of learning is critical for teachers today. I am more than willing to learn about Windows 8 with the guidance of my school's technology specialist and coach. I can move forward if you help me with this quest of mine! A is for Apple, B is for Ball, C is for Computer! Could you possibly help me with the "C is for Computer" part in my professional development plan?
