My classroom is a classroom full of differentiation. My students come from military families, newly immigrated families, families with little income, single parent families, and some homeless families. The students need every chance to learn.
My classroom is the home of several subjects within the social sciences field.
My students come to me to learn about content with social sciences such as economics, US History, World History, psychology, and more. They are students from many different background, varying degrees of abilities, over 30 different languages, and every single one of them want to learn. They want to get their hands on the elements of the social sciences.
My Project
How do you get your hands on the elements of the social sciences? First, you need students with drive and desire. We have that. Next you need a 3D printer. Yes, a printer. With this printer we can create models of the brain to use during review for the AP Psychology exam, we can artifacts of history to study, we can create models of various sizes and shapes to learn things that just merely reading about would not do justice. A 3D printer can put the social sciences into the hands of these students.
Studying the brain requires the ability to manipulate a model.
A 3D printer will allow students to create models of not only the brain, but of any historical artifact that they want to get their hands on. Hands on social sciences will create opportunities for the students to own their social science education. They will be able to connect with the material in ways we could never imagine before. Help us make hands on history a reality.
