21st Century Reading!

My students need an iPad to improve reading skills using reading applications available on the iPad. Also, a protective case for the iPad to protect it from damage.

My Students

Students are excited for video games, action television, and high energy competitions. Through your generous donations, I plan to compete with high energy READING SKILL games. Our classroom learning will double with a new class iPad. This will easily become a favorite station for student learning!

I teach an energetic class of 21 fourth grade students.

We have all races and learners in our room! We range from special needs students to talented and gifted students. We are in a K-5 school where the majority (86%) of the students in my classroom receive free or reduced lunch. Each day the students are excited to come in and learn!

My Project

In the 21st century, the ability to keep my students' attention is a constant battle. The iPad will be used to engage students while increasing reading skills. Students need reading concepts taught in class reinforced with various learning activities. An iPad in our fourth grade classroom will give students another way to reinforce reading skills. By the end of the first week, the students in my classroom will learn to use the iPad more quickly than you or I. Many of these students have never had the opportunity to use an iPad before, but this will only generate more excitement as each child will have the chance to choose a reading skill game during station time. Also, an iPad can provide auditory and kinesthetic learning opportunities that are hard to create during reading station time. This new tool will amaze and engage students in reading skill activity, like never before!

Reading is a skill everyone needs to be successful.

Discovering the main idea, sensory words, and author's purpose is challenging for fourth grade students. Applications on the iPad create games to aid in student learning. The joy and excitement students will have during station rotation will be evident as they learn how to apply reading skills.
