Imagine what it is like not having access to the world through technology. Even though these children are 4-5 years old, they are knowledgeable enough and eager enough to want to learn. I wanted to bring that enthusiasm into the classroom.
I have a classroom of 18, 4-5 years old children that qualify based on poverty level and educational testing.
We are a Title 1 school and a high percentage of the students live in poverty, don't speak English as their first language, and many of the children do not have internet access at home. The school does what it can to provide the tools needed, but most times, has to reallocate funds in directions other than technology.
My Project
I am requesting the two iPads because I believe that children need a good foundation for 21st Century Learning and providing them with the technology is the way to help them. As I have brought in my personal device, I have seen how enthusiastic they are about what a game can do and how they can learn the needed concepts (numbers, letters, rhyming, etc) to be successful. I will be able to download apps that they can use in order to become higher learners.
This project will make a big difference in these children's lives as they enter into a world that is dependent upon this technology.
I believe that it will impact them as future leaders.
