Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every day I take photos of my students to capture the daily life of a kindergarten student. I then use these photos to put together an end of the year scrapbook/portfolio for each student. Included are photos of special and daily events, creative writing and artwork.
My students are almost all second language learners coming from low socio-economic homes.
They enter my classroom with a wide range of school readiness skills. To hemp me meet my students where they are academically, I tend to create most of my classroom learning centers for reading and math. My centers are interactive, not just paper/pencil. These centers require me to print and laminate them before students use them. The differentiated centers I use in my classroom help me to bridge the gap between where my students are academically when they enter and when they leave me, ready for first grade.
My Project
This printer will allow me to print the needed materials for daily teaching. It will also be used to print out the many classroom photos we take each week to show what we know and do in kindergarten. As the year progresses and students have developed writing skills, we create many classroom writing projects and books. This printer will be used to create the classroom books as well as individual writing projects that the students have written. Once students begin writing, they also earn the opportunity to take photos using the iPad. It would be wonderful to have the ability to print out their photos.
This project will allow my students the opportunity to be creative while learning.
They will be able to print out their final products and the photos they have taken and keep in their scrapbooks. This project will also allow me to provide my students with differentiated materials that will allow me to meet individual students needs. By being able to give my students the appropriate materials they need, I can help them be successful.
