My wonderful students have gobbled up every book I put in front of them. I have never seen such avid readers! Their creativity and originality in writing is also amazing. I know each and every one of them will go very far in life, if they are challenged and pushed to be the best they can be. They come from a rich variety of backgrounds (African, Asian, Latino, Eastern European, and every type of American) and are often first generation Americans. Their stories are amazing, thrilling and at times, heartbreaking. Their wish to succeed and drive to work hard while facing humongous obstacles is a constant inspiration to me. Our school used to be a magnet school for athletics until it lost its funding, and now we focus on academics and character. It is a rather old building, but don't let that fool you- this school of character is full of a dedicated staff and an absolutely stunning student body.
