Our students a very determined to excel scholastically, but with the recent budget cuts they are now focusing more on doing just enough, than going above and beyond. We are an urban school located in the most competitive district in South Florida, Broward County. For the last four years the students have given their all to achieve the highest possible mark on the state-wide assessment. Although the recent cuts have put a damper on their learning process, the students have exhausted all resources and were able to realize their goal by receiving a school grade of "A" on the FCAT. However, it disappoints me that our students had to provide their own paper and ink cartridges in order to receive the extra practice they wanted to make sure they were fully prepared for the test. Many parents also chipped in by making copies, while at work, for our class.
