I teach at a small public school in New York. It is a 6-12 high school and middle school with around 470 students in total. My students come from very supportive families and home environments, however, just over 62% are from economically disadvantaged households. Despite any and all potential hurdles, our students preform at a very high level within their peer group. Our school has consistently received high scores due to the students high level of academic achievement. Although it is my first year at the school, I have been warmly welcomed by the entire middle school faculty. I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, as the only middle school science teacher.
