I am a Speech-Language Pathologist beginning work at a new school district this Fall, and my caseload will include a wide variety of students who all have very unique communication needs. My school district is a Title-1 district, and I will be responsible for working with all of the speech/language kiddos in grades K-5. My students are currently using a variety of communication skills including using signs(ASL), verbalizations (words), AAC devices, and picture communication symbols; however, they all will truly benefit from picture communication symbols and visual schedules! Effective visual schedules and picture communication symbols need to be both colorful and durable for student's use. A color printer is a necessity to provide colorful/real life pictures, and a laminator is equally important to keep the picture communication symbols in great shape even after daily use. Please help my students gain access to these effective communication supports.
