We are a new charter school in North Carolina. We have a diverse group of students from various counties across the state. I have 21 first graders who come to school each day ready and willing to learn. They are talented, bright and inquisitive! They are eager to learn more about the world around them. Our school has adopted a project based learning approach to teaching science and social studies subjects. The students become experts in their field of study each quarter and have a presentation of some sort to share their learning with others. It is amazing to see first graders running their own bookstore after learning how to write books in writing workshop!
