My students have demonstrated exceptional abilities in the areas of mental ability, achievement, motivation, and/or creativity. They live in the suburbs in Georgia and they love learning new things. Many times, they have a need for enrichment that regular education teachers are not always able to provide given the variety of student abilities in their classrooms. The gifted class enables them to explore Science and Social Studies concepts in depth and allows me to make connections with other curricular areas, such as reading, writing, and math. Students are able to make choices and set personal goals in their learning. They learn strategies that enhance creative problem solving, communication, critical thinking, and research skills as they participate in daily lessons and long term projects. This sets the stage for middle school and high school where students receive gifted education based upon their individual abilities and interests.
