Has DonorsChoose.org been independently evaluated?

We've received a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, America's premier independent charity evaluator. This rating is awarded to charities that meet the highest standard of organizational efficiency. Only 2% of charities have received their top ranking for as many years as us, "indicating that DonorsChoose.org outperforms most other charities in America."

We also meet the BBB Wise Giving Alliance's Standards for Charity Accountability. The BBB Wise Giving Alliance is a national charity monitoring organization affiliated with the Better Business Bureau system. The Alliance and its predecessor organizations have over a century of combined experience in charity evaluation.

Independent recognition of DonorsChoose.org also includes the Nonprofit Innovation Award given by Stanford Business School and Amazon.com, the Fast Company Social Capitalist Award, a Global Technology Laureate from the TECH Museum of Innovation, and selection by Ashoka.

Finally, our financials are independently audited every year. We share our financial statement and tax return with the public.
