I teach first grade in a low income school with a very high rate of free and reduced lunch students. My school is struggling to purchase supplies and replace equipment necessary for teaching. My students need the support of the audio/visual components of the curriculum to help better understand the content.
My students often look forward to coming to school because they know they will be treated with respect and taught the content in a fun and engaging way. Sometimes, the best way to help drive the content into my first graders memory is through the use of recordings from the library or content provided with the core curriculum packages. My school cannot afford salaries much less getting new much needed equipment for my classroom.
The TV and VCR/DVD player I am requesting will be used to help enhance student learning through the use of videos. In addition, I will teach the children how to respect this gift of equipment by treating with care. This equipment will be a big benefit to my first grade students.
With the purchase of this AV equipment, you will make a difference in a bunch of first graders lives for several years to come (since this material will remain in my classroom for years to come). By donating money for this proposal, you will be helping many students enhance their learning.
