My Students

Learning to read is a big challenge. These tools will help our first graders read sight words more fluently and get a head start on their path to reading success.

My students are a very mixed group of world citizens that come together every day at J.

M. School to work and learn. They are students from a variety of different backgrounds. They are engaged, curious learners that come to school everyday excited to start their day. J. M. School is considered a high-poverty school and is the smallest elementary school in our district.

My Project

I am requesting mostly Language Arts tools to foster my students reading success. I will use these tools with small group teaching as well as whole group teaching. Students love manipulative's that they can touch and move. The magnetic words chunks and letters will provide them with this opportunity. I am also requesting a Drying Rack where their artistic creations can dry with care.

This request will support the reading lives of 20 first grade students.

They will begin their school careers with strong skills that will foster school success and lessen their behavioral problems as they experience more success at school.
