Voracious Readers In Need Of Leveled Library

My students need a leveled library of various books to increase their reading stamina in a Cafe 5 reading model.

My Students

My students want to know what it means to "get lost in a book." I have described the feeling to them but our classroom needs a variety of books so that the children can capture that experience.

Most of the students come from a variety of backgrounds and love to have someone read to them.

They also get a sense of accomplishment when they can read a book by themselves. Many do not have a great deal of books at home and many have working parents who have difficulty juggling work and students' schedules.

My Project

With a full leveled library, my students will be able to experience their own growth in reading skills throughout the year. I will be able to reinforce independent reading as well as guided reading lessons with these resources. My wish is that every student will get "lost in a book" and therefore develop life long learning skills.

This library will significantly impact the lives of the students.

Many students do not have these resources at home and these books will provide opportunities for my students to become life long learners at an early age.
