Do you remember your favorite classroom from elementary school? Was it a class where you did a lot of worksheets, or a classroom where you got to be involved in your learning? I'm striving to make an impact on my students' future by getting them involved in and excited about their learning.
My First Grade students attend an urban charter school where 96% of our school is in poverty.
It is also our first year being open, which means we don't have access to a lot of supplies or curriculum necessary to help them accomplish their future goal of going to college and graduating in 2026.
My Project
Studies show that there is a 30-million-word deficit in young students who come from high poverty areas. In this day and age, technology can really increase a student's interest in learning and reading, so I try at every opportunity to introduce technology that can increase their learning. These tag readers and books will not only give students an exciting technology that can help them read, it will also give them control over their learning experience and an independence to work at their own pace. With these tag readers, students will be able to read and follow along at their own pace, while also expanding their reading horizons.
By donating to this project, you will be giving my first grade students the chance to learn more, learn better and learn faster!
Please help to build up my students' future and show them that learning can be fun and hands on by giving to this project.
