My students need a flatscreen tv that we can hang on the wall in front of the band to project Skype sessions between other bands and SmartMusic assignments.
Have you ever sat in a classroom and not been able to see the presentation being projected on the screen? It is very frustrating and happens all the time in my classroom. I have multiple Skype sessions planned with other concert bands in the area and also use Smart Music extensively in my program.
I have the best group of students!!
They are extremely involved in the program and work so hard to reach the level that they are at. This project is very important to me, after having multiple students with visual impairments and seeing them struggle to focus and understand the music on the screen. We use Smart Music almost every day to warm up, work on sight reading, and improve rhythmic skills. We are in a public school in New Jersey where the students are exposed and motivated through the use of technology.
My Project
By having this flatscreen TV mounted onto the wall in the band room, I will be able to use technology and have all the students benefit from this use. It will allow all of my students to see and take part in the activities. I also will not have to pull a projector into the middle of the band which takes up space in the woodwind section and alter their posture. On a safety level, I would be able to keep all wires against the wall so that no students trip on the wires while entering the room.
This project's success will help my students participate and become more motivated in the music learning process.
It will assist the visually impaired and create a safe and more spacious learning environment.
