Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a bilingual first grade teacher and would like to have some leveled reading books that the students could take home to practice with. The children's levels of English and their reading abilities are varied. I would greatly appreciate a set of reading books that would accommodate the capabilities of all my children. Though most of my students come from low income families, our school has high expectations for all students. A gift of this resource would greatly benefit the students by allowing them to take home reading material. Many of my students do not have books at home, nor English speaking parents who could help them with their reading. They need books that would be simple enough for them to practice by themselves at home and then again with the guided reading groups in school. They need to be exposed to as much reading material in English as possible. Currently I have 20 students in my class. I know that the children will feel more capable of reading, if they have graspable books such as leveled readers.
