Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Technology plays an important role in educating today's students. Unfortunately, I only have two desktop computers in the classroom, and that is not enough for my 35 students!
I teach 35 amazing 5th graders who come from very diverse backgrounds.
The majority of my students are bused to school from all areas of Los Angeles. Many of my students are English Language Learners. Despite the fact that some of my students are dealing with many of life's harsh realities, my students come to school eager to learn and work towards a better future.
My Project
The interactive tablet will be a much-needed addition to our classroom. We will be able to use this tool in all subject areas, including math, science, reading, writing, social studies, and health. Students love working with technology, so this tablet will be a great motivating factor for my reluctant learners. With 35 students, small group instruction is vital. With a tablet, I will be able to use technology as I work with small groups of students. In addition, the chair sox will help maintain a quiet learning environment while the students are working. With so many bodies in the room, the screeching of the chairs is very distracting every time a student needs to get up or sit down. The chair sox will help eliminate this problem, and allow us to work in an environment conducive to learning!
