My Students
Engaged and motivated students make the best learners! An iPod touch in our class would allow students access to great Apps that kids love to use. The apps are engaging, educational, provide immediate feedback and allow students to work at their own pace and level.
I teach twenty-four 4th grade in Iowa.
We are a smaller rural district with an average graduating class of 70 students. My students have a wide variety of abilities and needs.
They are all hard working, eager, thoughtful, and caring students who love to learn.
This year I have many talented students who need extensions to further their learning above the 4th grade level. Access to an ipod touch is one way I can extend them.
One example would be to connect them with an algebra apps that my students love to use. They are so excited to learn something that challenges them. How fun!!
My Project
There really is an app for that! One for just about anything you want to learn.
Since the iPod touch is a mobile device, apps enable learning both inside and outside the classroom. From math games to vocabulary flash cards to the Civil War to anatomy visualizers, there’s an app for every subject and every level of instruction.
We have access to an iPad in our classroom and the students love to use it as a learning tool, I have 106 apps downloaded to it covering all subject areas.
The only problem is there is not enough of it to go around. Having an ipod touch in our classroom would allow us to use the same apps as the iPad and I can get the apps into more students hands.
Students love apps!
Apps help personalize instruction, address a variety of learning styles, and create highly interactive classrooms. That not only makes for a more engaging learning environment, it also results produces results. Learning! And since most students are familiar with the Apple devices these apps are made for, they pick up quickly on how to use them. Thank you for considering helping my students learn.
