My students need a library cart and 16 book bins to in order to build and store our books in our library. This will help us feel like real readers with a real library.
You might remember the first time you walked into a library...you were surrounded by shelves and books all around you! My students do not have the opportunity to go to libraries, nor do we have one in our school. I want to create a library atmosphere in our classroom to help them feel like readers
We are an amazing group of third graders.
Our community is extremely low economically, my school is 100% free breakfast and lunch. My students crave to experience the same things that other children have. Its amazing how they find the simplest things so wonderful. My third graders are full of passion to become active learners.
My Project
I am requesting a book shelf and baskets to provide my readers with a corner of our classroom as there library. My students do not have a library near their home to walk to and read books. They do not have a library in the school where they can go and read books. Therefore, our classroom is their little place on earth where they can sit back and get comfy. I want them to have a library with shelves to have their books leveled and organized. Giving them a leveled library will allow my students to really step up and take charge of their reading by managing what they read, and keep track of their progression. It will also allow them to be responsible for maintain and caring for their books.
This is so important to my students, because I want them to feel like readers.
I want them to self monitor and watch themselves grow as independent readers. My students need a place just of their own that is organized, and realistic for them. To experience their own library would be so amazing for them. This will have such an impact on their daily experience in our classroom, by allowing them to have their own little space for themselves to become a real reader!
