It's time to correct scientific misconceptions.
My students are very inquisitive about scientific concepts.
They crave new information. I could teach them all about it, but it would be more meaningful for the students to discover science through exploration. Students need hands on experiences to develop a complete understanding of the information. Through this donation students will have experiences they will never forget.
My Project
As topics are studied, and questions are raised, the students will have countless opportunities to make claims, investigate them, and provide evidence of their thinking. The worm bin will give students the opportunity to discover the amazing life of these seemingly simple creatures. The magnifiers will provide a larger than life view of how the worms live, move, and more. Students will develop investigations into what living things need to survive and how various elements of the environment work together. Students will "get their hands dirty" with this activity and others that stem from it.
Students will enjoy fiction and non-fiction literature about the scientific subjects they are investigating. Using the information gathered to combat scientific misconceptions and find out the truth! Washing their hands first of course.
My project is so important because careers in the science field are growing and changing.
My job, as a teacher, is to help prepare students for their futures. These science supplies will help students grasp onto new knowledge. They need to learn to seek it out themselves rather than waiting for it to come to them. This skill is invaluable for the students as they decide who they will be and what they will accomplish as a person.
