My Students

Do you remember what it was like when you were a kid and watched frogs grow or when you learned that the caterpillars you saw one day you soon be the beautiful butterflies flying around?

I teach in a very rural, high poverty, Title I school in Texas.

I have been teaching science for 4 years now and every year it seems like the kids come in with a greater desire to learn. I love to hear how much they enjoy science because it has not always been that way. Teachers spend so much money out of their own pocket to help make each students learning the best they can.

My Project

The question I hear all the time is "Do lives really cycle and what does that mean?". I want to be able to show the students a real live frog life cycle so they can see what a tadpole really looks like. If my project is funded I want to have a life cycle going all the time for the students to watch and learn. I am asking for a mushroom, butterfly and frog life cycle kit because all of these things change so much during their life cycle. Some students don't even realize that butterflies come from caterpillars! It would be wonderful to show them instead of just talking about it!

My students love science and the more they can do and see the more they love it!

Please help us add life cycles to one of our hands on project! My teaching motto is "I hear, and I forget. I see, and I remember. I do, and I understand." Chinese Proverb Please help us understand!!!
