My students need sensory items, such as 3 gym balls, stepping stones stilts, 2 bungee jumpers, and air cushions that help enhance their academics. It is important for Special Education to give movement breaks and to have items that allow this movement.

My Students
Do you remember what it was like when you were in school and you weren't allowed to leave your chairs? Well now is the time for change, let the antsy students have a way to move and learn all at the same time! Allowing this will help to keep them motivated to learn!
My students are in a self contained Special Education classroom.
They are in a small class setting that allows them to learn things slower and at their individual pace. They attend a primary school grades K-1. I give sensory (movement) breaks throughout the day. The hide and slide, bungee jump are perfect items for that 5-10 minute break they need. They have a hard time sitting in one spot. I know that with the bouncy balls, t stools, seat cushions, and slant boards it will help them focus during academics. Just the slightest adjustment of taking away the chair and replacing it with items that allow them to move helps them stay more focused.
My Project
My students need sensory items, such as gym balls, stepping stones stilts, bungee jumper, and air cushions that help enhance their academics. It is important for Special Education to give movement breaks and have items for allowing movement. The students will be able to learn in a new way. In the way of movement! My hope is that using t stools (that make them pay attention because they have to balance), seat cushions, and bouncy balls instead of chairs will all be ways to allow them to move but learn at the same time. I have some very visual learners that need the work in front of them. The slant boards will do just that! By getting the stepping stones, bungee jump, and other sensory items my students will be able to work on their gross motor and be learning! Even adding the alphabet to the stepping stones, or sight words will give them that movement break but academics all in one. The possibilities are endless!
This will help not only my classroom, but the other special education classrooms in our school.
They range in grades from K-4. It won't only be helping my Special Education Classroom but at least 3 others! Help this bright stars shine in their own way. So be the change, help this students learn in the way of movement magic!
