This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are taking Algebra I as eighth graders! In order for them to be successful in their course, they need graphing calculators.
My students are eighth graders in New York.
They are passionate mathematicians who get excited by the prospect of problem solving and taking advanced math courses at such a young age. They attend a public charter school that is preparing them for success in high school, college and beyond.
My Project
In order for my eighth graders to be as successful as possible in an Algebra I course, it is essential that they have access to the necessary resources. With Ti-83 calculators, my students will be able to face the challenges of Algebra I head on and experience all of its complexities.
If a student is successful with Algebra I as an eighth grader, he/she is more likely to take Calculus as a senior in high school, which will set him/her up with more options in college.
