My Students
Kids are really great with technology these days. But they could learn a thing or two about how to use technology to connect with other students and learn together.
My students are 4th-8th graders who come from low income neighborhoods in Utah.
They come to Alianza to experience our unique blend of online curriculum and hands-on project learning. Each student has an individualized learning plan so that they can learn core subjects at their own pace and then take their knowledge and apply it to exciting hands-on projects.
My Project
My students need a webcam, home theater and digital projector to transform our classroom into a place where students from all over the world can meet. Students will conference with classrooms from other states and countries to facilitate cooperative projects and learning activities.
Skype doesn't just connect kids to other kids - from the moment you take the webcam out of the box, you are deep into a project that teaches the role and function of technology in the age of expanded communication.
What is our message? What questions do we have? How can we most effectively communicate our story and learn from others? This project will expand our classroom and our learning as students are practicing the important skill of clear communication.
