My Students
I am an ICT (Integrated Classroom Teaching) Special Education teacher for 4th grade in New York City. I am seeking sound proofing to reduce the classroom noise when we teach lessons in small groups.
My 27 students range in abilities from on-grade level to a year below grade level with learning disabilities.
In order to reach all students my co-teacher and I design lessons that can be taught in small groupings and modify activities for students with disabilities. The groupings have been very beneficial for the students, but the noise level from the group on the other side of the room is distracting.
My Project
Our school is a beautiful old building with 16' ceilings and tile floors. Sound travels and voices need to be projected to fill the space. In small groups children (some with learning disabilities) struggle to concentrate on the lesson and shares from their peers. Sound proofing panels that hang from the ceiling will help to capture the voices from the group across the room and maintain the spacious feeling that high ceilings offer. Ceiling panels will keep the classroom a united space where students will be able to hear their teachers and each other.
Thank you for supporting an inclusive classroom where sometimes the best way to learn is in smaller groups.
Sound proofing ceiling panels will aid in filtering noise so that students can best receive lessons.
