You know how kids are always asking "Why?"? That is the atmosphere we are trying to cultivate in our classroom. Creativeness and Curiosity!
Recently our kids have endured a horrific natural disaster.
In May a tornado ripped through the heart of our town. Our kids are resilient, so I know they will come back stronger than ever. Over 60% of the students at our school lost everything. I want to provide them with fun and engaging activities that are just right for them. I know with all the great and strong parents, students and teachers we will be strong.
My kids are energetic, creative, active, curious and many more adorable characteristics. The students at my school love working in Stations. Stations give students the opportunity to create their own learning. The learning they create is meaningful to them and just right for meeting their personal needs. Stations are all hands on activities that students get to touch, manipulate, and create.
My Project
The resources we are requesting assist is cultivating creativity and curiosity in young children. It is every teacher's goal to have a classroom full of problem solvers and thinkers. To create a classroom like this, teachers have to provide opportunities and time for students to be creative, curious, and experiment. With the science materials requested I will provide this opportunity and time in whole group and stations to encourage students to create their own learning and become more creative in the way they go about every tasks. I have specifically requested a discovery chest fully of scientific tools, an human body apron to explore our bodies, science instant learning centers, paints and other materials to help us explore. These materials are vital to students creativity and thinking.
Children are naturally curious about themselves and the world they live in.
There is no better way to cultivate a classroom of creativeness than to provide opportunity for students to learn about themselves and the world they live in. Especially now, in their time of need, it is crucial for the school system to provide a climate full of safe, intriguing opportunities for our kids.
