Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember the first time a concept clicked in your head? Second graders need to see and touch things in order to understand a concept. A flat one dimensional board just doesn't allow them to be involved. If we had a document camera objects could be manipulated and Math concepts would click!
My children are fascinated with learning, they are like little sponges, absorbing everything around them.
Our classroom is a flurry of activity! Space is at a premium in our room, we have a large class- 23 boys and 10 girls! Often they need to get up and move around to see the information as it is being presented on the chalk or white board.
The children love hands on projects and are fully engaged when they are a part of the lesson.
My Project
Many of the children are from low economic status homes and do not have the opportunity to see the latest technology items, let alone use them. If these children are to be fully vested in this era of technology, they need to be allowed to see technology being used and become comfortable using it themselves.
A document camera would allow every child to see information being presented, they would not have to move around to see, as everyone would have a clear view.
Children would become familiar and comfortable with a piece of technological equipment that will always be a part of their lives.
They would have countless opportunities to see Math problems come to life as they would be able to manipulate items while discussing a problem.
