Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Reading is the fundamental skill needed to survive life! Our students do not understand the importance that reading plays in our everyday lives. It surrounds us.
My 6th graders are eager to learn.
Most don't have the proper resources they need which makes it difficult for them. Living in a high need area in New York CIty, most of their neighborhoods are filled with negative activities they cannot escape from. Unfortunately, for most its a matter of survival. When they enter my classroom, I ensure that their daily stress does not impact their learning. I teach them to be optimistic and help them escape through reading. When they are in my classroom, they become so eager to learn and want to change their lives. They get excited to read but often feel that the books do not represent them or they are not interested in it. I want to be able to keep feeding their curiosities and be the positive influence in their they need in their lives.
My Project
These resources will enrich their lives and help them become fluent readers. I requested interactive reading books to help make their education fun. My students are visual learners. I also requested flashdrives because my students need them for class. With the use of technology in the classroom, students need flashdrives. I love to engage them with different resources that will help them and build the love for learning. I will be able to provide differentiated instruction for each student so that they learn on their level and excel.
With your donation, my students will benefit from some resources that maybe unavailable to them but very useful to their learning.
