My students need materials to observe live plants and animals in habitats such as the desert and woodland plant habitats and the millipede, butterfly and chameleon habitats!
Have you ever seen the face of a child light up with excitement the first time they experienced a bug? My students are waiting to have this experience with a variety of plants and animals that can be seen daily in our classroom with living habitats!
Science should be experienced!
One of the most successful ways to help children experience the world around them is by letting them explore and observe for themselves.
I have a classroom of twenty-three eager kindergarten students. I teach in a rural county in NC that has been significantly effected by the economic downfall. Many of my students did not attend preschool; making this the first structured learning environment for them. My students love to learn through exploration and conversation. It is important to their success to build on these learning strengths in our classroom!
My Project
Support of our classroom project would allow my students to have a hands-on learning experience with animals and plants that many of them have never experienced! The habitats and animals I have selected include a desert plant kit and woodland plant kit so that my students can learn about the plant life for different environments and what those plants need to survive. I have also chosen millipedes, chameleons, butterflies and preying mantis so the students can explore how these animals grow and change.
Donations to this project would allow my students to experience animals and plants that would not survive in the environment where they live.
Supporting our project would give my students a learning experience that would last a lifetime!
