Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock ... do you know what it feels like to wait, and wait, and wait even more for a computer to load? We need new computers so that the students don't have to lose valuable learning time waiting for the computer to load.
Many of my students don't have computers at home and the only place they get to use one is when they come to school.
Computer time is often their favorite time of the day however, it becomes a hassle with our old, slow computers. My students love technology and during computer time, the students read online editions of magazines and books, and use computer software. They get to learn by reading and actually have fun doing it!
My Project
With a new computer my students will be able to more efficiently complete assignments and projects. New computers will cut the lag time down significantly. Currently, it often takes up to 10 minutes just to load a new page on the Internet. In that time, they could have created a web organizer for a paper, began researching a topic, completed an activity on our computer reading programs, or read an article in an online magazine.
Please help my students be able to use their computer time more efficiently.
They would love to be able to go to a computer and not worry about whether or not it will work that day. It will make this time of their day less stressful, more enjoyable and more learning will occur.
