My Students

Help the digital learners in my classroom connect with technology that will captivate and motivate them. By helping to provide current technology, you will offer a tool for learning that will help my first graders engage the digital world that they live in but can't access.

My first grade students are eager learners.

They come to school each day ready to learn new things about the world they live in and how to interact with it. Many would say that my students have tremendous obstacles to overcome. 78% of my school population receives free or reduced lunch services each day making my school a Title 1 school. In general, it is very culturally diverse, and over 50% of students are considered English Language Learners.

My Project

With your help, the addition of current digital technology to our classroom would help give students access to technology that will motivate learning. If funded, my project would mean that my students have access to many educational games at their fingertips. They would also be able to listen to books to help them understand what a fluent reader sounds like. Your generosity means that students will have access to technology that they know about but very few have access to because of limited incomes. It means that students will have the opportunity to engage literature, math concepts, science and the world. Your giving could help catch a struggling reader that is reluctant to read. It could inspire a struggling student to keep persevering. Your help could inspire world change. My students need an iPod to help them engage learning in the digital 21st century.

This project is very important to me as an educator.

I want my students to not be limited in their access to technology because of their home situations. I want them to be able to use technology to help them become active participants in the digital world that they are a part of.
