Fantastic Firsties Seeking Supplies

My students need a few basic supplies -- lined paper, sharpened pencils, and some bulletin board paper to help create a display for our finishes work.

My Students

Can you imagine trying to write your first story when every piece of paper was a valuable resource, trying not to make mistakes because there isn't enough paper to keep trying? My students want to write and read, but basic supplies are in demand.

We are a public charter school in rural Hawaii.

Like everyone, more of our families are falling on hard times, and have less money to help buy the basics. We have beautiful surroundings, now we want to draw and write about them! We are eager to draw our rain forest and write all about it.

My Project

Story paper and sentence strips will help the kids learn to translate what they see and know to paper, and grow their knowledge about reading and writing. We don't have a classroom pencil sharpener, and using the little twisty sharpeners is fun, but kind of distracting!

With supplies, we can write poetry, learn phonics and sight words, perfect and publish our writing, and create a welcoming classroom.
