My Students

There's magic in the media arts! Please help us create that magic..we have computers and digital cameras, but we need the wacom bamboo tablets to help us further!

My students live in rural areas of South Carolina.

They are in grades 6, 7, and 8. They come from poverty stricken families and most do not have access to media materials, except for those available at school. Our school is currently the only one in our county that provides single gender classes. We are growing fast, implementing various strategies to make our students successful! The students have been expanding their technology knowledge by participating in the counties technology fair. This past year, they were the top winners!

My Project

The Wacom Bamboo Drawing tablets are awesome! They hook right up to your computer and come with their own drawing pens. The tablets would enable me to work with all of my students, exposing them to various projects in media arts. They could take their own digital pictures, download them, and use the drawing tablets to turn those images into paintings, drawings, etc. One project I would love to do is called Many Me. In it, the students take several photos of themselves in the same location, but doing different poses. Then, using the drawing tablet, the student creates a picture that has "many me" people in one picture. These digital images would also help my yearbook staff create some cool designs for the yearbook also.

These drawing tablets would be such a valuable addition to my classroom.

They would enable me to successfully teach media arts standards to my students. Media arts are such a big part of our lives and I truly think that the exposure the tablets would provide, would spark my students interest in the media arts further.
