Livin' Loud with a New Listening Center

My students need an easy to use MP3 player listening center and listening center station in order to follow along with stories.

My Students

Help my kindergarteners experience the joys of listening to stories in an easy to use way! Books on tape are a bit tricky for kindergartners to manage independently, but an MP3 listening center would take the guess work out of literacy center time.

My kindergarteners attend a public charter school in a high-poverty, low-income area.

Despite living in a dangerous area, my students are fun, curious, smart kids who love to learn! Most of my students have never attended preschool and are already behind by the time they enter kindergarten. They need all the help that they can get with pre-reading and literacy skills.

My Project

How would it feel to know that you sparked a love for reading in 1, 2, or even 25 kids? There is nothing better than giving the gift of reading. With a new, easy to use MP3 listening center, my kiddos will be able to independently run the listening center which will leave me free to work with reading groups. With the listening center station, students will no longer have to work to untangle headphone cords and we will have a space to store listening center supplies. The listening center table will provide enough room for up to 6 students to enjoy a story. Students will be able to explore new authors and characters, experience new ways to respond to literature, and become familiar with concepts of print.

With your donation, you can rest easy knowing that you did something to help a wonderful group of kindergarteners who deserve the best, even though their environment sometimes dictates otherwise.
