My students need a visual cookbook, ice cream maker and kitchen utensil set to learn the important life skill of preparing their own food while also learning to read.
Help! Our home economics class was cut from the budget and we need to learn how to cook!
My students are kindergarten through second grade students attending a public school.
All of my students require special education services to be successful. Some are still learning to communicate while others may be just trying to figure out how to use their legs or eat with a fork. These students are hard working members of our future who need to learn basic life skills.
My Project
With these resources we will be able to use the life skill of cooking to practice the life skill of reading, sharing, communicating, and working together. The ice-cream maker enables all students to have a hand (or foot) in the process of making their own ice cream. The students can use the visual recipe book to follow a recipe without depending on someone else to read to them. This will not only foster the skill of cooking but also independence.
Due to recent budget cuts my students will no longer have a home economics program to participate in to learn one of the most basic life skills.
Your donation will give these students the opportunity to begin to learn how to cook while they are learning other academic skills.
