My students need a globe and a map to use when exploring how different and unique the world really is.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We want to see the world! Can you recall a time in life when you questioned why you have not learned something earlier? I don’t want my students to have that moment. I want to teach and share as much as possible. Learning about the geographic makeup of the world is vital and I need maps/globe to do so.
Having a globe and world map in my classroom is just the start of students exploring the world outside of their home, city, state and inside and outside their country.
The need for these items stem from my desire to give them variation in learning. With a map, they would be viewing the world and the United States on a flat surface. With the globe, students would be able to explore the earth on a sphere. Students can utilize the globe/map to pick a country or location for research, find a place that they want to visit some day, identify the country, if outside the U.S.A, in which their family is from, and take note to how different other states, their country, & the world is in comparison to where they are. When students are only familiar with one setting, they appreciate the opportunity to view other places even more. This will give them hope, hope that they don’t have to settle for poverty stricken environments in which they are growing up in. There is better to see, they can get there.

Having a globe/maps in the classroom would create a strong desire in my students to want to travel in the future.
In doing this, students will recognize importance in academic success in order to pay for these trips. Though it may not seem like it is a huge contributing factor, this can aid in motivating my students to be academically successful. I want your help, they need your help. I don’t want to limit my student’s exposures. I hope you find it in your heart to see and understand this need.
