Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Can you imagine life without technology? My students can! I face the challenge of my students being brought up in an age where everything is connected to the web! Life revolves around hand-held devices, yet my students have no knowledge of them or their "teaching power" within the classroom.
My students come from low income families that have limited resources at home.
In order to make learning fun, we are introducing “The Tech Touch” time that will engage the students through interactive educational games on handheld devices.
My students are from low income homes and struggle to meet their daily needs. They find comfort in the school environment and look at school as a place to nourish their minds and bodies. They are a wonderful group of students who need the love and attention our entire staff provides in order to ensure their growth and success and look forward to meeting the standards we have established.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will help support “The Tech Time" program I am trying to implement this year. Students will begin their day utilizing educational play and learning activities to reinforce the state standards I am required to meet. Students will be completing independent learning centers that will allow them to show, share, learn, and build on their basic knowledge skills in the areas of reading and science. Students will concentrate on following directions and working independently to complete their assigned tasks. Students will utilize handheld devices to access science and reading applications that correlate with the state standards and current curriculum texts. Students will explore trivia, spelling, and vocabulary applications that will reinforce the key concepts presented throughout each unit of study. The iPod touch units will be used daily and continue to promote the theme "Learning is fun!"
This project is a school based initiative in hopes of raising our high stakes testing scores.
I am a teacher who believes that children benefit from the daily usage of technology. The advancements in today’s technological world have left my classroom behind and I believe that it is more likely that students will retain important information if it is presented in a forum that is exciting and up to date. I am confident that these requested materials will allow me to establish a base-line program for success. Limited financial resources prohibit the purchase of these materials on my own and I hope that you will consider this experience one that warrants your support.
