This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I want to teach my kinderkids how to conserve our resources. Boogie Boards would help us conserve paper usage in our classroom!
I teach Kindergarten in rural South Carolina.
My students are bright and inquisitive. They come to school each day ready and eager to learn!! We are a Title I school with 93% of Kindergarten students receiving free/reduced lunch. Our supply funds have been frozen for two years.
My Project
I'm requesting a classroom set of Boogie Board paperless LCD writing tablets. I've been doing reading on these boards and have found that they would be perfect in my classroom. They are small enough to not take up a lot of storage space. They don't use up the battery except when you erase what you have on your screen. But, probably the best part is that they will keep my students engaged as they respond to questions and use them to write their spelling words and math problems. Another bonus is the capability of being able to write on the boards without a stylus. My students would be able to use their fingers to write on them! (Meaning I won't have to keep a stash of extra stylus' on hand.)
My students love to use any new technology to learn and these would create that excitement to want to do more.
The Boogie Boards are eco-friendly. Every year, I go through reams of paper for things that end up in the garbage. I also have to buy white board markers and crayons. The Boogie Board LCD writing tablets would give my students what they need to learn, without making a huge footprint in our environment.
