Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come to school everyday and they are eager to learn. Many of my students have families that work at night; they do not have as much support at home as they need. All of my students also come from non-English speaking families; they need manipulatives/visuals to support their learning.
My kindergarteners are smart and thoughtful students who love individualized attention.
They benefit from opportunities to talk, share, think, and problem solve together. They come to school everyday and love sharing their personal stories. Our school is in an urban neighborhood where the teachers work hard at creating a community feeling and unity amongst our students. We work at engaging our families and creating partnerships that our students need to succeed. I believe that all of my students have great potential.
My Project
Please help my kindergarteners! Our math program needs supplementing. I work hard at trying to supplement the program by making my own math games and centers after school and then taking them to be laminated. This can be very time consuming and costly. These games/ center materials will really help my students with all of the skills they need extra support in. They will provide them with opportunities to work independently and in groups. These groups will give my students the opportunity to increase their oral language skills, as well as their mathematical skills. These groups will also create opportunities for me to informally assess their needs so that I can plan accordingly. These center materials are exciting and fun so the students will be motivated to learn. Help their environment becoming mathematically rich.

I know that if my students are given the opportunity they will succeed. I really want to give my students the same manipulatives and games that other school districts may already have. They need this motivation and support! They will be so excited to see all of these new materials and they will be excited about math! When I look at my kindergarteners I see future doctors, lawyers, engineers, teachers, etc....Please help them realize their full potential.
