This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Perfect practice makes perfect! My students need multiplication flashcards that they can check out and take home to study!

Math is Life.

Life is Numbers. 93% of the students at my school receive free or reduced lunches. 67% of the 6th grade students are currently performing below grade level in mathematics. 38% of the 6th grade students are currently performing at or below a fourth grade level. 16% of the 6th grade students are currently performing at or below a first grade level. 10% of the 6th grade students receive additional math tutoring for 165 minutes per week. 2% of the 6th grade students own a set of multiplication flashcards.

My Project

Funding for 45 sets of multiplication flash cards would allow students to borrow flashcards until they could consistently and quickly demonstrate mastery for all multiplication facts. I plan on setting up a daily homework assignment for the student to study the cards with a family member and create a rotational schedule of all students currently performing below grade level. Once they have passed a series of tests, the flashcards would be returned and redistributed to the next 6th grade student on the list. My intentions are to have 100% mastery for all students before transitioning to 7th grade. Once all 6th graders have passed, the flashcards would be shared with the 5th grade math teacher to help prepare next year's group of students.

Please help give my students the resources they need to close the mathematical achievement gap.

My students consistently demonstrate grit and self discipline through their commitment to an extended school day. They are vivacious and motivated to climb the mountain to and through college. Give them the tools to perfectly practice their multiplication facts!
