Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Can you imagine a student having a desire to read but not having any books around. Well that's what it's like for my students.
My students live in the inner-city.
Their neighborhood is adorned with graffiti. They all have experienced the sound of guns being fired. They live with very little yet strive to do their best. My students are learning English as a second language and lack basic school supplies such as pencils, paper, or erasers at home. For many school is a place where they escape from their hardships.
My Project
My students need guided reading books to receive instruction that is appropriate for their reading levels. Having students read at their independent level eliminates frustration and promotes learning. It also allow the teacher to zone in on specific skills that the students need to master. These leveled books will be used on a daily basis during small group instruction. They are essential in every classroom.
This project is very important to my students because it will provide them with the resources needed for individualized instruction.
Every students deserves the opportunity to learn to read in a non-threatening way and at their own pace. Please help my students be successful readers.
