S, R, Ch, Sh, G, K, -We Need Help Saying Our Sounds !!!
My students need printer ink cartridges to allow me to make pictures to target their specific speech sounds. The bright and colorful stickers will reward their hard work.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Did you every go to speech to work on a speech sound? Do you remember having to learn your /s/ or /r/ sound? Most of my children have many articulation errors. Some of them cannot be understood by their teachers or classmates. These sound errors also hinder their ability to learn to read.
My students are young students.
They range from 4-8 years of age. Some of them just have a few articulation errors. Most of them have many sound errors and are very difficult to understand by their parents, teachers and peers. Some of them also have other delays in academic areas and motor skills. Despite these articulation delays, they tend to be energetic and enthusiastic children. They work hard in school and in speech class. They do get frustrated and are upset when they are not understood. They love to learn their speech sounds through games and activities.
My student's parents often juggle parenting, working and transportation issues (many parents don’t have cars). Some of them come from families with challenging family dynamics or are in foster care. They attend a large urban school with a high poverty rate. Many parents are not able to help their children at home with their “speech” homework.
My Project
My school district provides us with a wonderful computer program that enables the speech/language pathologist to customize pictures and games for each child. With the budget cuts, my school is not able to provide color ink cartridges to create these pictures and games. I am not able to individualize the pictures for the children this year and create new games for them. These ink cartridges are a vital part of their success in therapy. The children love to play bingo, memory and Go Fish using picture cards with their sounds in the games.
The children work very hard in speech therapy and the stickers will be a wonderful incentive. The children love colorful, seasonal and smelly stickers. Having a variety of stickers will bring a smile to their bright faces.
The ability to be understood is vital to children's academic and social success in school.
There is research to show that having speech sound errors has an impact on a child's reading ability. By providing ink cartridges and stickers, you will help many children be understood by their peers and teachers. You will also bring a big smile to their faces as they master each and every sound.
