This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

As a teacher in a Chicago public school I face many obstacles in funding. I teach 7/8th grade science and love to include experiments and hands on activities to help my students learn in many different ways. I use my own money to buy materials needed for science experiments but sometimes the cost is too high for me to do buy it alone. Most, if not all, of my students do not have the money or living environment to help them develop academically in our society. Students are learning about biology in 7th grade and a hands on experiment where they dissect a frog would be extremely beneficial. They are very motivated for experiments and most of them haven't ever been part of a real dissection. Students will work in groups to dissect a frog and write out observations of different organs they find. Having a live frog in the classroom will also show them the life cycle and how to care for live animals. Dissection pans, scalpels, and frogs would greatly help these students in their motivation to learn and to respect science. You can help bring new light to students and make their school year very memorable.
