My Students

You are a child wondering how can you add that high when you only have ten fingers and ten toes. Well, with animal manipulatives they now can add without the fingers and toes.

My students attend school in North Carolina.

My students are special needs students ranging from all different intellectual levels and uniqueness. The students are in second and fourth grades. The majority of the students struggle with basic math skills. Having manipulatives will help improve their math skills and scores.

My Project

After having accomplished being able to add and subtract, the students will gain the feel of success. The students can then take that success and apply it to their regular education classrooms. The students will feel as if he or she is as smart as the other peers in his or her classroom and not feel left out.

Imagine seeing the child's faces and eyes light up when he or she can finally add higher numbers and feel successful among his or her peers.

You would not want to be the child who sits in the back of the room and never volunteers because he or she is afraid of getting the wrong answer and getting made fun of.
