Help us play! Our outside play area is very bare. We need a playhouse to encourage creativity and develop interactive social skills.
The students in my classroom are preschoolers on the autism spectrum.
Our class is part of a high poverty public school. All of my students love school and enjoy learning. They each have many unique strengths and weaknesses, but a common struggle for all of them is social skills.
Currently our outside play area consists of balls, trikes, and a basketball hoop. A play house would not only provide my students with another fun activity but would promote pretend play. Stirring a young child's imagination is vital to the development of creativity. A unique characteristic of many children on the autism spectrum is an inward focus which can hinder the development of social skills. My students all struggle playing with others. A play house would give them opportunities to play and share with others they may not have otherwise.
Donations to this house will make a huge difference on my students lives.
It will give them an engaging fun way to play with their peers and develop essential creative skills. Every child deserves to play house, and this will give my students opportunities to learn how.
