This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students often do not have access to technology in their homes. They are excited to come to the computer lab and work on projects or use the available software. We have run out of toner and the imaging drum is on its last legs.
I work in a Pre-k - 8th school in a public inner city Michigan district.
We are a high poverty level school, and the majority of our students receive free or reduced lunch. In most families, there is little or no money left over for anything but the necessities.
My Project
My students often do not have computers or printers in their homes. The ability to be able to create a project and print it out is important to them. With toner and an imaging drum for the classroom printer, the students will be able to print out awards they earn on different programs as well as the projects that they create.
My students do not have many of the materials and supplies that are taken for granted in many more affluent districts.
Something as simple as ink will provide my students with opportunity to share their successes with others.
